‘My experiences teaching in the various schools within Havering & Thurrock have been extremely valuable, diverse and highly rewarding.
The most essential factor that has made my overall teaching experience in Havering an extremely favourable one is the constant support, encouragement and effective management of my consultant, Bridget Hicks. It is because of these positive, personal experiences that I would highly recommend other teachers to pursue a career teaching in Havering, working under the guidance and support provided by Bridget and Synarbor Education.’

Teaching in London is something I’d always known I was going to do. When it came time to apply with and agency TeachIn, for many reasons, really stood out for me. From the initial contact right through to my very last day I know that someone (Bridget in my case) had my back and was there to support me no matter what. I also knew that my best interests were the priority of TeachIn and that they were there to give me the best opportunities possible but also find the best fit possibly for me. There was no problem too big or too for Bridget, and if I ended up on the phone for half an hour describing how my half term was going, she would listen and support. She was always, always there for me. This is how I ended up having the greatest two years of my life.
I wanted that ‘London experience’ without the London expenses that went along with it. Havering, being a London borough, was the perfect fit for me. I got to live in an incredible location, directly behind a tube station, making central London a breeze to access. I got to experience teaching at two amazing, but very different schools in the borough, both of which were easily accessed using the fantastic Havering public transport system (much better than anything I have access to in Australia). Finally, I got the extra pay rate offered to those teachers in London, without having the pay the astronomical rent prices central London attracts. As I said, Havering was the perfect fit, and gave me my perfect London experience.
I would not hesitate to encourage anyone to take the opportunity to live and teach in Havering (in fact, I have recommended this to almost anyone who I chat with and has even a slight interest in doing this). Not only did this opportunity provide me with two years of valuable classroom experience that I would have struggled to find at home (honestly, this in itself was rewarding enough) but I was able to travel to at least 12 different countries, if not many more, across two different continents (staying on the Asian side of Istanbul definitely counts as the second continent). And travel was so easy, just a hop, skip and a jump away. Some high school French teachers I knew even got to take their kids on a day trip to Paris. Travel was just that easy and everything was just that close.
So if I can leave you with anything it is this… Take this opportunity, grasp it with both hands and make the most of it. Sometimes it will be hard, but someone will always be there to help you went you need it. And hey, if it’s not hard, then it’s not worth doing, being a challenge is what makes it such a rewarding experience. Trust me, if London was any closer to Australia I would still be there, living in my little flat in Hornchurch, teaching at my wonderful school in Upminster and making the most of any opportunity that came my way.

'This agency, 'Teach in- Synarbor', was recommended to me by a very good friend. I have always believed and put value in a 'suggestion ' when it is 'word of mouth'. This agency was the very first agency I worked with and they really did set a standard.
From the very first conversation I had with Bridget , through to my interview with Melissa, down to actually getting me booked in for work , Bridget and her team have been incredibly professional, friendly, supportive and informative. The time the team spent with really getting to know me and my job requirements felt like quality time, as sub- sequently the work I have got has reflected this. Even at times when I myself have been unsure about the type of role I would like to do, they have given me fantastic advice and time to think. Effective communication both ways has been key.
Bridget and her team have come across quite transparent on their expectations of me and any potential jobs they have given me which I have appreciated. And contrary to what I have heard about some agencies or the impression that is sometimes given regarding at times a 'ruthless ' nature in placing supply teachers in certain posts, this team has always been friendly and direct whilst still respecting what I want.
My experience in secondary education has been over a number of years, I am not new to teaching, having gained experience up to middle management. I have seen the changes and turns teaching has taken and so when I decided to make the life changing decision of joining an agency and venturing to new opportunities, I did not take whom I work for lightly.
I would recommend Bridget and her team (this agency )without any hesitation. I believe a person is productive and efficient most when they are happy at work and feeling good about what they are doing and achieving, and of course working in education with children is a privilege and Synarbor has given me an opportunity to do this and remain true to myself whilst working here'
